„Museum Island“

In 1999 the Museum Island in Berlin, as a complex of museums, initially at first has became listed as a UNESCO-World-Cultural Heritage Site.

With its five institutions (Altes Museum, Neues Museum, Alte Nationalgalerie, Bode-Museum and Pergamonmuseum) the Museum Island forms an incomparable ensemble of cultural history.

In 2009 the „Neues Museum“ reopend after years of recontruction bringing back Nofretete and the egyptian collection to the Museum Island. The worldwide known attraction in the Pergamonmuseum is the Pergamon Altar (circa 170 BC).
